About Bunny Adoption
What to consider before adopting:
Do plenty of research (so you know what you’re getting into!) and prep before bringing home your bunny.
You will absolutely need to rabbit-proof your home and provide a safe space for them, one that includes a spot where they can hide and/or cozy up.
Keep in mind that bunnies need lots of attention, companionship, playtime and care to stay happy and healthy. They need at least as much attention as a dog or a cat and can become withdrawn and depressed if they don’t get a lot of love and social interaction.
Pet bunnies need to have a good vet and ideally one who is really knowledgable about rabbits. Their healthcare can be expensive. We highly recommend finding a bunny vet near you before adopting.
They are sensitive and sometimes resist being picked up and cuddled, so they’re not always ideal pets to have around young kids.
Rabbits are not necessarily “easy” pets to keep in general. They require special foods and consistently stimulating environments. Also, they can live for more than 10 years, so becoming a bunny guardian truly is a commitment.

Where to adopt:
In northern California, go to SaveABunny. SaveABunny has a "foster a bunny program”, too!!
The House Rabbit Society also has so many good suggestions for places to adopt here. Look for the "local chapters" for specifics.
If you are outside of the Bay Area, another place to consider an adoption would be your local Humane Society or animal shelter. Bunnies are given up all too frequently!
