Here is a link to a wonderful article about bonding with your bunny.

Playtime and Toys

Bunnies love toys!

  • Hard plastic baby toys to toss around

  • Wire cat balls to throw

  • Mason jar lids to flip

  • Cardboard boxes for hiding in and digging on

Teeth and Nail Care for Bunnies

Nail trims are needed once a month. You can do it yourself or pay a vet to do it. Here is a helpful video:

Rabbit front teeth grow constantly and they require hard items, greens with stems, and toys to chew on to help the teeth wear properly. Definitely have your vet check your rabbit's teeth at your yearly appointment.

Litter Box

Use plant-based litters, such as Cat Country Organic, Critter Country and Yesterday’s News. DO NOT use wood shavings or clay-based litters, such as Johnny Cat, or any clumping litter or one that uses baking soda. (These types of cat litter can cause serious illnesses in rabbits.) Corn or wheat based litters are not a great idea either because bunnies will often ingest them.

If your bunny has the run of your house, you may need more than one litter box. The idea is to set your bunny up for success when it comes to her box. Put the litter box where bunny will use it - they will tend to pick a corner or two. Being willing to compromise around litter box location will make it easier on you and bunny. Clean boxes often, probably every 2 days, using white vinegar or a non-perfumed enzyme cleaner. Rabbit litter and poop pellets can be composted!
